I, Lana Newman, moved to Troy in 2010 and started in Sandy's yin yoga class downtown Troy. I continued her classes for 3 years on Saturday mornings while I lived and worked at Diamond Ridge where my husband and I were managers there. Sandy's class was the highlight of my week. She was so giving! I too was a yoga instructor and taught chair yoga at Diamond Ridge.
She was insistent on my becoming a future yin instructor. She bought me books of yin to inspire the teaching. I am now teaching 13 classes weekly of yin/yoga. She was a lovely gal and paved my way to a a healthier teaching with yin included. I am so thankful to Sandy for her inspiration. We kept in contact for years but it dropped off after 10 years. She didn't like to have her picture taken. She made her classes so much fun. I loved the balloon dance we did. One time she brought packing bubble wrap and we stomped on it to help our stress. I have a picture of her at my work desk; I am truly beholden to her influence in my life.
Thank you, Sandy for your passion of yoga and your kindness. I make enough with my yoga classes to keep me solvent in my old age of 80. I plan on being the oldest yoga instructor still teaching. The yin yoga makes that so for me. Again, I thank Sandy for that.
